Why Did I Choose the Water Bear?
I consider the tardigrade a perfect mascot for hemp and “My candles are added with hemp, one of the most sustainable and versatile plants on the planet.”
The tardigrade, also known as the water bear, is one of the most resilient creatures known to science.
- It survives extreme cold.
- Extreme heat.
- Radiation.
- Dehydration.
- Even the void of space
It can suspend its metabolism for years and return to life when conditions improve.
It lives almost everywhere on Earth.
But here’s what matters most:
It wasn’t built to live in extreme conditions forever.
It was built to endure them.
So are we.
Built to Adapt
Like the water bear, humans adjust. We learn. We evolve.
When conditions become challenging, we find better ways forward.
Because of all their incredible feats, I look at them like superheroes, but there are some important things we do have in common with this amazing creature. Although we both have adapted and found a way to live anywhere, the longer they’re exposed to extreme conditions, the more chances of them dying increases. They weren’t built to live in extreme conditions forever, they were built to endure them temporarily, so are we. And just like the “slow walkers” who have actively been seen learning from challenges, so do humans, and we always find a way to adjust and do better, even when conditions seem impossible.
